The Neuroprosthetics Lab, led by Drs. David Brandman and Sergey Stavisky, is at the forefront of developing brain-computer interface technology to help patients communicate. Their research successfully translated the brain activity of an ALS patient into speech, with up to 99% accuracy and in the patient’s own voice. This technology has the potential to change patients’ lives - restoring function, identity, and the ability to connect. In 2026, Drs. Brandman and Stavisky were named to the TIME100 Health list in recognition of their groundbreaking work.
