For patients recovering from a serious burn injury, healing involves far more than treating physical wounds. Many patients experience significant pain, anxiety, trauma, and long periods of isolation throughout their hospitalization. The CARE Project wants to bring an additional source of comfort directly to their bedside: live therapeutic music.

The CARE Project provides integrative and holistic services to adults admitted to UC Davis Medical Center. Services such as Art Therapy, Reiki, Touch Therapy, and Pet Therapy help patients cope with hospitalization, facilitate self-expression, and manage pain, stress, and anxiety.

Through this Crowdfund campaign, we are seeking support to expand these services to include live therapeutic music for patients in UC Davis Health’s Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center, the largest burn center in Northern California. Research has shown that music interventions can positively impact pain, anxiety, and emotional well-being for individuals recovering from burns.

The CARE Project operates solely through philanthropy and the dedication of volunteers. Gifts to our campaign provide general support for The Care Project, including our current priority of bringing therapeutic musicians directly to the bedside to provide patients with moments of comfort, connection, and relief during an incredibly difficult time. Every donation brings us closer to our goal and helps provide meaningful opportunities for healing beyond traditional medical treatment.
