🗒️About

Join us to support the Graduate Association of Political Science Students (GAPSS) Fund

The Graduate Association of Political Science Students (GAPSS) is a student-run and student-serving registered organization that represents and supports all Political Science graduate students at UC Davis. We advocate for student needs, foster community, and provide professionalization opportunities across all cohorts and beyond.

Last year, we launched a Transportation Subsidy Grant to close the Unitrans gap in access that graduate students face on campus. This year, we're committed to keeping it funded and available so GAPSS members can ride Unitrans fare-free. We also kept our community connected through events like our annual Bake Off and a once-a-quarter off-campus group outing, alongside our ongoing social and networking calendar.

This year, we're seeking $2,000 to sustain that momentum. Your support of our campaign will provide general support for the Graduate Association of Political Science Students, including our current priorities of growth through peer mentorship and professional development.

We're further expanding our peer mentorship program by building a reimbursement system for mentor-mentee outings. That way, mentors and mentees can take part in more one-on-ones outside our structured group events, without adding a cost burden to mentors. In Fall 2026, we will be launching a professionalization workshop series focused on political science teaching pedagogy, giving students hands-on preparation for the classroom. A successful campaign means our members can count on the support systems that already work, while GAPSS continues to grow and meet new needs. Every contribution helps us invest in graduate student connection, access, and preparation.

GAPSS President Jalen Ward (third year), former GAPSS President Amanda Loehrke (fourth year), and union representative Zoe Schuck (first year) join other UC Davis participants for a group photo during a Day on the Hill meeting with UC Davis Political Science alum and Legislative Assistant Jamie Mitchell in the Washington, D.C., office of Representative Mike Thompson (D-CA-4) on April 21, 2026.
