Join us to support the EnvironMentors Support Fund

EnvironMentors is one of the nation's premier STEM education programs, founded in 1992, and UC Davis is bringing it back with the ambition to become the best chapter in the world.

Here is how it works. UC Davis mentors, from undergraduates and graduate students to postdocs and researchers, lead high school students from Davis, Woodland, and across Sacramento and Yolo County through a full year of real, independent scientific research: in the fall they design a project, in the winter they run it, and in the spring they present it at a science fair. It is genuine leadership experience for our Aggie mentors and a life-changing first taste of real science for local teens, who walk away seeing themselves as scientists, as future Aggies, and as changemakers in their own communities.

And it works. In just our first two years back, UC Davis students have competed at the GCSE International Science Fair in Panama and won first place overall.

The program is 100% free for every student and runs entirely on volunteers. Gifts to our campaign provide general support for EnvironMentors with a priority of supporting the mentors and students doing the work: field trips, lab and field equipment, pizza at our meetings so that science feels fun and welcoming, and the travel that sends UC Davis mentors and their students to the international science fair to present their research on a world stage. Every gift beyond our goal is another field trip, another student, an Aggie on a plane to an international fair.
