Advisors serve as an important, ongoing, one-on-one connection for students throughout their UC Davis trajectory. Sometimes, those advising relationships are the only personal contact a student has with an institutional representative. As a result, it’s critical for advisors to be well-equipped to address concerns that extend beyond the academic.

Our student population is ever-changing, with people who come from extremely varied backgrounds and life experiences. Advisors must know how to approach situations that may not be similar to their own. Strengthening advisors’ skills can have a ripple effect across our campus. This is where Academic Advising Enrichment (AAE) comes in. AAE offers trainings that are tailored to our students’ needs and led by specialists who understand the unique role advisors play in student well-being. AAE can only continue to meet these training needs with access to experts and curricula. Areas of specialization include supporting students with disabilities, working with formerly incarcerated or system-impacted students, and navigating advising while mental health concerns are on the rise.

We’re asking our community to help us raise $5,000 to elevate our training capacity. Gifts to our campaign provide support for programs such as Academic Advising Enrichment, including our current priorities of supporting expert instructional leadership and the development of resources specifically for advisors. Help us make sure advisors have the resources and tools to support students across the widest spectrum of academic and life circumstances.
