Join us to support the Davis Feminist Film Festival Support Fund
The annual Davis Feminist Film Festival (DFFF) is a dynamic, student-led community event that showcases independent short films from around the world. Each year DFFF receives as many as 1,500 film submissions, and from these our student intern team curates a multi-day lineup of the best examples of grassroots feminist media. At the DFFF showcase each May, we invite students, community members, and filmmakers to a celebration of films that powerfully depict gender, race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, nationality, ability, and the many other dimensions of social life.
Your gift to the Davis Feminist Film Festival will support our mission of highlighting feminist perspectives missing from mainstream American media. Most films submitted to the festival are created by artists working outside the United States and in languages other than English. DFFF provides an inclusive public space for these and other artists at the margins—particularly those with marginalized racial and/or gender identities—to share their work with a local audience.
As DFFF approaches its twentieth anniversary in 2025, we ask for your help as we work on expanding our festival offerings. Gifts to our project provide general support for the Davis Feminist Film Festival, including our current priorities of:
- free community access to the festival
- no-barrier submissions for filmmakers, many of whom are self-supported and come from marginalized backgrounds
- recognition for outstanding examples of feminist film
- equitable stipends for our student intern team
- expanded programming, including screenings and panel discussions with feminist filmmakers
Thank you to all of our very generous supporters! At the beginning of this final week of crowdfunding, you all have donated a total of $600 to the Davis Feminist Film Festival. With these funds we hope to offer at least one of our outstanding feminist filmmakers a direct financial award!
Providing direct financial awards to select filmmakers is one of the most concrete ways we can support grassroots feminist artists, especially those who are self-financed and belong to historically undervalued communities. You can support us in this work by donating what you can by our October 31 crowdfund deadline!
