This campaign has ended. However, you may still support the Seismic Design at UC Davis fund here.
Seismic Design at UC Davis is a student organization focused on earthquake engineering. Each year, our team designs and constructs a five-foot-tall balsa wood building to test on a shake table at the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Seismic Design Competition. We are a group of undergraduate students from different majors, years, and backgrounds who are interested in learning how to make buildings safer and more environmentally friendly.
Our project is entirely led by students, beginning from researching our given prompt, to structural analysis, to fabrication, and making sure everything is running smoothly. We provide an opportunity for students to get the chance to learn by doing.
We do not receive direct university fundings, therefore we rely on sponsorships and donations to make our projects possible. Donations to our campaign will provide general support for Seismic Design at UC Davis, including our current priority funding registration fees, material costs, software licenses, and travel expenses for competition. Our goal this year is to create and develop our strongest structure for the upcoming competition.
This project gives us the opportunity to promote earthquake engineering and help other students to explore and understand structural engineering. We need your help to keep our team building and competing. By showing your support, you are helping promote hands-on engineering education and providing students with real world experiences that prepare us for our future careers.
