🗒️About

This campaign has ended. However, you may still support the Thriving in Graduate School fund here.

Thriving in Graduate School (TGS) is dedicated to fostering well-being and building essential community among graduate students. Graduate and professional education is characterized by intense academic pressure, competitive environments, financial strain, and often, geographic and emotional isolation. Thriving in Graduate School is the proactive, preventative measure needed to build resilience and cultivate a supportive environment for this critical student population. It offers a continuous, multi-dimensional approach to wellness, integrating practical tips with opportunities for connection and reflection.

The program is structured around three core components:

  • Weekly Newsletters & Resources: These curated newsletters provide actionable advice and direct links to campus resources, helping students integrate well-being practices into their daily lives.
  • Weekly Reflection Prompts: These prompts encourage students to pause and reflect on their experiences, fostering self-awareness and mindful processing of academic and personal challenges. This consistent, low-barrier intervention encourages emotional regulation and thoughtful responses over reactive ones.
  • Community Gatherings: Regular, in-person and virtual events are organized throughout the fall, winter, and spring quarters. These gatherings are specifically designed to help graduate students and postdocs build connections and strengthen their support networks, combating the prevalent feeling of isolation.

In a successful partnership with Graduate Studies, all incoming graduate students are automatically enrolled in the program, dramatically increasing our reach to approximately 4,500 students as of Fall 2025. While this enrollment model has maximized TGS's positive impact across the campus community, the operating budget has not expanded to meet the needs of a program this size. By investing in this program, you are investing directly in the mental, emotional, and professional futures of the next generation of scholars and innovators.

Your support will enable us to reach thousands of graduate students and postdocs annually, transforming their experience from one of merely surviving to one of thriving.
