Davis Rewilding Society - Native Seed Library & Garden

The Davis Rewilding Society is a student-run California native plant conservation and restoration organization dedicated to rewilding Davis’s urban ecosystems, increasing awareness of California's biodiversity, and fostering human-to-land connections through community-building events and planting projects. In order to achieve these goals, we host bi-weekly educational general meetings, planting events at our native gardens, and field trips to ecological preserves.

We would like to sincerely thank all our previous donors — your support has allowed us to launch two revolutionary initiatives this year: the native seed library and our fifth native plant garden.

This year, we are fundraising for:

• The creation of a community native seed library
• Our fifth native plant garden
• General club expenses to keep field trips and events accessible and free

Donations to our campaign will provide general support for the Rewilding Society, including our current priority of building the very first native seed library in the Davis area on the UC Davis campus. Native seed libraries are “Little Free Libraries” for native plants– physical structures that house free seeds for the public to take home and plant. The Rewilding native seed library will make native plant gardening accessible for all, serve as a valuable community-building tool around seed collection and native plant knowledge, and help promote local biodiversity.

Additionally, we are expanding our efforts to add a fifth native plant garden at the Domes – a Sensory & Pollinator Garden. Our new garden also features picnic tables, windchimes, native bee hotels, a bird bath, and many more art and community-facilitating structures.

Supporting our project means funding a grassroots student-led movement that seeks to transform the neglected natural spaces of Davis into thriving native habitat and introduce students to the world of restoration and the potential to “rewild” themselves.
