The Chicanx and Latinx Engineers & Scientists Society (CALESS) at UC Davis, is a non-profit student organization affiliated with two national organizations: the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and Latinos in Science and Engineering (MAES). Our mission is to support Chicanx/Latinx students in STEM through academic excellence, professional development, and community building.
We are raising funds to support our outreach, academic, and community events that help our members thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Each year, we host a STEM Day at a local high school, to encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue higher education in STEM.
At UC Davis, we also support recruitment and retention efforts through activities and workshops that keep students engaged and connected, such as our mentorship program that pairs underclassmen with upperclassmen in their major. We additionally host academic and professional development workshops, which strengthens community, supports leadership development, and prepares members for the corporate world.
Your support makes a meaningful difference in our community by helping expand outreach, strengthen student support, and foster a welcoming environment for Chicanx/Latinx students in STEM.
