This campaign has ended. However, you may still support the Atmospheric Aggies Student Club fund here.
The Atmospheric Aggies is UC Davis' student chapter of the American Meteorological Association, a fully student-run organization that aims to connect undergraduates, graduates, faculty, and professionals in Atmospheric Science to foster a welcoming and productive environment between the university and the greater earth science community.
Every year the Atmospheric Aggies hold weekly meetings which include peer mentoring, fostering connections amongst undergraduates, and guest speakers from atmospheric scientists (National Weather Service, AMS, NCAR, JPL, etc.) to provide professional development. Along with socials and field trips to educationally enriching locations, the club also runs multiple community outreach events every year. The most popular includes Picnic Day, where the club hosts children's activities, meteorological demonstrations, an interactive green screen, and two weather balloon launches.
All of these activities carry operating costs that, so far, have been provided by personal donations of time and money in addition to limited departmental funding. Donations to this campaign will provide a significant opportunity for these activities to become more frequent and increase the amount of club members, and members of the public, that can participate. By donating, you are contributing to future atmospheric scientists' success and their ability to make the world a better place by finding ways to protect life and property in a rapidly changing climate.
Thank you for contributing to the Atmospheric Aggies and making a difference in the earth science community of UC Davis and beyond! We encourage you to share our campaign with any potential donors in your life.
Our community has been very helpful and generous to allow us to reach our original goal of $1500, and we have set a new stretch goal of $4000! We would like to deeply thank all of the donors that have contributed to the campaign so far, and we would be grateful to any donors that can help contribute to a brighter future for upcoming atmospheric scientists! Our guest speaker events and Picnic Day have been very successful in the past for career development and public outreach. These funds will allow us to accomplish even more of these enrichment activities, such as visiting the National Weather Service office in Sacramento and/or the Central Sierra Snow Lab.
Thank you for your continued support,
-Atmospheric Aggies
