Black Family Day is a vibrant celebration of joy, resilience, and community. Held each spring on the UC Davis Quad, this cherished tradition began in 1970 as a simple barbecue organized by the Black Student Union. Over the years, it has evolved into a monumental event that highlights Black empowerment and strengthens the bonds of family, reflecting the resilience, diversity, and openness of Black culture.

Through its rich programming—including lectures, speakers, entertainers, cultural performances, and local vendors—Black Family Day celebrates the achievements of the Black community while fostering education about contemporary issues. It is more than an event; it is a beacon of unity for Northern California’s diaspora communities, creating a space for connection, celebration, and growth.

We are raising funds to ensure the continued success and expansion of Black Family Day. Contributions will help us:
● Invite renowned entertainers, scholars, and speakers to educate and inspire.
● Provide an engaging experience for attendees of all ages with interactive activities.
● Support local Black-owned businesses by creating a platform for their products and services.
● Strengthen outreach efforts to expand the event’s reach across communities and campuses.
